Every storefront widget in Discount Prime, badges, progress bars, cart totals, countdown timers, and BOGO popups, has its own editable text fields, usually with variable placeholders like {{amount}} or {{discount}} that fill in live data. Most of these fields also support per-language translations matching the languages your store publishes in Shopify. This article lists where to edit the copy for each widget and how the translation system works.
WHERE EACH WIDGET'S TEXT LIVES
- Saving on Cart: Subtotal label, Saved label. Widgets -> Saving on cart. Translatable: Yes.
- Quantity/Value Table: Title, "Buy"/"Get" text, "Off" text, new-price text. Widgets -> Quantity/Value table. Translatable: Yes.
- Countdown Timer: Footer text, day/hour/min/sec labels, before/after product name text. Widgets -> Countdown timer. Translatable: Yes.
- Low Stock Badge: Alert text. Widgets -> Stock badge. Translatable: Yes.
- Sales Badge: Badge text. Widgets -> Sales badge. Translatable: Yes.
- Shipping Progress Bar: Initial / in-progress / threshold messages. Widgets -> Shipping progress bar. Translatable: Yes.
- Discount Progress Bar: Initial / in-progress / threshold messages. Widgets -> Discount progress bar. Translatable: Yes.
- Buy X Get Y Popup: Title, subtitle, three button labels. Widgets -> Buy X Get Y pop-up. Translatable: Yes.
- Buy X Get Y Floating Button: None, icon and color only. Widgets -> Buy X Get Y floating button. Translatable: No text to translate.
All of these use standard text fields, type your copy, use the listed variables where offered, and save.
USING VARIABLES IN WIDGET TEXT
Most message fields support variables that get replaced with live values on your storefront:
- {{amount}}: the remaining amount/quantity needed to unlock the reward
- {{discount}}: the discount or reward itself (e.g. "25% off", "Free shipping")
- {live_stock_count}: the current live inventory count (Low Stock Badge)
- {{Discount}} / {{new-price}}: the discount value or new price (Quantity/Value Table)
Example: "You're {{amount}} away from {{discount}}" -> "You're $12.00 away from Free shipping".
TRANSLATING WIDGET TEXT (MULTI-LANGUAGE SUPPORT)
Widget settings pages read your store's published languages directly from Shopify (Settings -> Languages). When your store publishes 2 or more languages, a Language dropdown appears above the text fields on every translatable widget.
How It Works
1. Your default (primary) language is where you type the "main" version of every field, exactly as you always have.
2. Switch the Language dropdown to any other published language to enter a translation for that language's fields only.
3. A language showing a dot next to its name still has one or more untranslated fields.
4. Reset to default buttons are scoped to whichever language tab is active, resetting a translation only clears that language's override, not your default text.
How It Renders on the Storefront
Each shopper automatically sees the widget text matching their own storefront locale, no manual switching needed on their end. If a shopper's locale has no translation entered for a field, the storefront quietly falls back to your default-language text instead of showing something blank.
What's Not Covered
- Product titles, descriptions, and other theme content are outside Discount Prime's widget text system, use Shopify's own Translate & Adapt app for general storefront translation.
- The Buy X Get Y floating button has no text at all (icon and colors only), so there's nothing to translate there.
MINI FAQ
Do I need a certain plan to translate widget text?
Do I need a certain plan to translate widget text?
No, the language dropdown and translation fields are available on every plan, they simply don't appear if your store only publishes one language.
Why doesn't the Language dropdown show up?
Why doesn't the Language dropdown show up?
It only renders when your store has 2 or more published languages in Shopify Settings -> Languages. With just one language, there's nothing to switch between.
Why doesn't my variable show a value?
Why doesn't my variable show a value?
Double-check the exact variable spelling for that widget ({{amount}} vs {live_stock_count} differ by widget) and confirm the field you're editing is the one rendered in that widget's current state (initial vs. in-progress vs. reached).
Do widget text changes apply immediately?
Do widget text changes apply immediately?
Yes, once saved, the new copy (and any translations) is live on your storefront right away; no theme republish is required for embed-based widgets.
