Customer Eligibility: Who Can Unlock a Campaign
Limit a Discount Prime campaign to customer segments, named customers or a purchase-history rule. Every eligibility option and its plan requirements.
Updated November 1, 2026
The Customer eligibility card (“Control who can unlock rewards.”) decides which shoppers get a campaign's discount. Use it to create VIP offers, wholesale-only pricing, or rewards for repeat customers without needing a separate store.
The Options
Option | Who qualifies |
|---|---|
All customers | Everyone, including guests who aren't logged in. This is the default. |
Specific customer segments | Customers in segments you've built in Shopify. |
Specific customers | Individual named customers you pick. |
Customers matching conditions | A quick purchase-history rule, such as a minimum number of orders. Badge: “No Shopify segment needed”. |
Logged-in customers | Only customers who are logged in. Shown only on campaigns that already use it. |
Customers Matching Conditions
This option acts like a temporary segment just for this campaign, so you don't have to build one in Shopify.
Select Customers matching conditions.
Click Add purchase history condition and set the value (for example, number of orders at least 5).
Use Add condition to add more. All conditions must be met (AND logic).
⚠️ Conditions are checked when the customer is logged in at checkout. Guests can't be matched, so they won't see or get the reward under this option.
What Non-Eligible Shoppers See
They pay the regular price; the discount isn't applied at checkout.
Discount Prime widgets for that campaign are hidden from them, for example the Quantity/Value table and wholesale sales badges.
Wholesale / B2B campaigns also offer Only show to eligible customers: guests and non-eligible customers see regular prices with no widgets.
Plan Requirements for Set Offers
On Product Bundle, Cross-sell, Free Gift and Upsell campaigns, any option other than All customers needs the Ultimate plan. If you choose one on a lower plan you'll see “Limiting eligibility beyond all customers needs the Ultimate plan.”
A bundle published as a Combo product must use All customers, because a published product can't be hidden from a segment.
Good to Know
Segment and customer selections update automatically as your customer list changes.
Discount Prime only syncs your customer list when at least one campaign targets customers.
Customers must be logged in before they click checkout for segment, specific-customer and condition rules to apply.
Mini FAQ
Can guests ever get a segment-only discount?
No. Segment, specific-customer and condition rules need the customer to be logged in at checkout.
Do I need to build a Shopify segment for repeat-customer offers?
No. Use Customers matching conditions to set a purchase-history rule inside the campaign.
Why is eligibility locked on my bundle?
On Product Bundle, Cross-sell, Free Gift and Upsell campaigns, anything other than All customers needs the Ultimate plan.
