Every campaign builder in Discount Prime has an identical Scope of Discount section for choosing exactly which products a campaign applies to, and optionally which ones to carve back out. This article is the one-stop reference for every targeting option, since each individual campaign-type guide only shows a quick example.
INCLUDE OPTIONS (MAIN)
- Specific products / variants: hand-pick individual products or variants
- Collections: every product in one or more chosen collections
- Product tags: every product carrying a chosen tag
- Vendors: every product from a chosen vendor
- Product types: every product of a chosen product type
- All store: every product in your store
Note: "All store" isn't available for every campaign configuration, for example, it's hidden on the fixed-price-per-unit mode of Tiered Unit Pricing. If you don't see it, use Product types or another broad option instead.
ADVANCED (RULE-BASED) INCLUDE OPTIONS
- Price range: products whose price falls within a min/max range. Available on all campaign types.
- Variant Metafield Rule: variants matching a metafield condition (e.g. custom.material = leather) instead of hand-picking them. Available only on Tiered Unit Pricing, Wholesale / B2B Pricing, and Dropshipping Pricing.
EXCLUDE OPTIONS
Once you enable Exclude products, the same targeting methods are available to carve products back out of what you just included:
- Specific products / variants
- Collections
- Product tags
- Vendors
- Product types
- Price range
("All store" isn't an exclude option, since excluding everything would leave nothing.)
AUTO-UPDATE ON FLY
Toggle Auto-update to keep your include list live as your catalog changes, for example, a product added to an included collection later is picked up automatically, without re-saving the campaign. This is especially relevant for Wholesale and Dropshipping campaigns, where catalogs often change frequently.
CONFLICT CHECKS
If your Include and Exclude rules use the same targeting type in a way that overlaps (for example, including one collection and excluding another), Discount Prime runs a conflict check so you can see exactly which products are affected before saving. This is separate from cross-campaign conflicts, see "Managing Campaign Conflicts (Auto-Exclude & Resolution)" for what happens when the same product is targeted by two different active campaigns.
STEP-BY-STEP: SET UP TARGETING
1. Open a campaign and scroll to Scope of Discount.
2. Choose how to select included products: Specific products/variants, Collections, Product tags, Vendors, Product types, or All store (if available for this campaign type).
3. For more precision, open Advanced and add a Price range, or (for Tiered Unit Pricing, Wholesale, or Dropshipping) a Variant Metafield Rule.
4. Optionally enable Auto-update so the campaign stays in sync as your catalog changes.
5. If you need to carve out specific items, toggle Exclude products and choose an exclude method.
6. Save, then check the Estimated Products preview to confirm exactly which products actually match your rules.
TIPS & COMMON MISTAKES
- Same targeting type on both sides can trigger a conflict check. If you include one collection and exclude another, review the Estimated Products preview carefully before saving.
- The Variant Metafield Rule only appears for Tiered Unit Pricing, Wholesale / B2B Pricing, and Dropshipping Pricing. It's hidden for every other campaign type.
- "All store" isn't universally available. If it's missing, use the broadest available option (like Product types) instead.
- Turn on Auto-update for fast-changing catalogs, otherwise new arrivals or removed products won't be reflected until you manually re-save the campaign.
- Check the Estimated Products preview every time, it's the fastest way to confirm your include/exclude rules actually match what you intended.
MINI FAQ
What's the difference between Include and Exclude?
What's the difference between Include and Exclude?
Include defines the starting set of products a campaign applies to. Exclude carves specific items, collections, tags, vendors, types, or a price range back out of that set.
Can I target by more than one method at once, like a collection and a price range?
Can I target by more than one method at once, like a collection and a price range?
Yes. Use the main Include method for your primary targeting, then add a Price range or Variant Metafield Rule under Advanced for extra precision on top of it.
Why don't I see the Variant Metafield Rule option?
Why don't I see the Variant Metafield Rule option?
It's only available for Tiered Unit Pricing, Wholesale / B2B Pricing, and Dropshipping Pricing campaigns. It's intentionally hidden for every other campaign type.
What happens if a product matches both my include and exclude rules?
What happens if a product matches both my include and exclude rules?
A conflict check runs so you can see exactly which products are affected. Once resolved, excluded products are removed from the campaign's eligible list.

Any merchant building a campaign who needs to see every targeting option in one place instead of piecing it together from individual campaign guides.
