Check a Product: See Which Campaign Discounts It
Use Check a product to see which Discount Prime campaign currently discounts a product, and learn how product ownership between campaigns is decided.
Updated November 1, 2026
When a product is in more than one campaign, it can be hard to tell which one is actually discounting it. Check a product answers that in one step, and the rules below explain why a campaign keeps or loses a product.
How to Check a Product
Open Campaigns in the Discount Prime sidebar.
Click Check a product in the page header (next to Import).
Click Choose a product and pick the product from your catalog.
Read the result and click Open campaign to jump straight to the campaign.
What the results mean
Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
This campaign currently discounts this product. | This campaign owns the product and is applying its discount. |
Matched but not applied | The product is inside this campaign's scope, but another campaign already holds it, so this one doesn't discount it. |
No active campaign currently discounts this product. | No live campaign is applying a discount to it right now. |
Who Keeps a Product: The One Rule
Price discount campaigns (Flat, Tiered Quantity, Product Spend, Wholesale, Dropshipping, Bulk Price Update, Tiered Unit Pricing and Buy X Get Y without combining) can't both discount the same variant. Discount Prime uses one rule:
A variant already held by a live campaign stays with that campaign. A campaign that goes live later loses it.
There is no ranking by campaign type and no tie-break by creation date.
Only live campaigns hold variants. A Scheduled campaign holds nothing until it starts.
When the holding campaign is deactivated, expires or is deleted, the other campaigns automatically take those variants back. You don't need to re-save them.
Shipping, Tiered Spend (Order), Buy X Get Y with combining on, and the Bundle, Cross-sell, Free Gift and Upsell types are not part of this competition.
Changing Who Owns a Product
In the campaign builder, when products are held by another campaign you'll see a summary such as {on} of {total} variants will use this campaign and these actions:
Action | What it does |
|---|---|
Give this campaign priority / Take these {n} | This campaign takes over the held variants from the other campaign. |
Move to this campaign | Moves the overlapping variants to the campaign you're editing. |
A take-over is remembered. It stays in place until another take-over changes it, or until one of the two campaigns is deactivated, expires or is deleted. If you approve a take-over on a campaign that isn't live yet, it is applied when the campaign activates.
On the campaigns list, the Discounted variants column shows badges such as 12 held by Summer Sale so you can spot overlaps at a glance.
💡 If saving would leave a campaign with nothing to discount, you'll see This campaign will not discount anything and can choose Save campaign or Save as draft.
Mini FAQ
Why does Check a product say “Matched but not applied”?
Another live campaign already held this product when this campaign went live. Use a take-over in the builder, or wait until the other campaign ends; the product then returns automatically.
Does a scheduled campaign reserve its products?
No. Products are only held once a campaign is live.
Do bundles take products away from my sale campaigns?
No. Bundle, Cross-sell, Free Gift and Upsell campaigns never compete with price discount campaigns.
