Running Several Tiered Spend (Order) Campaigns

Can you run more than one Tiered Spend (Order) campaign? Yes. Learn which discount applies when several qualify and how tier maximums work as a ceiling.

Updated November 1, 2026

You can have more than one Tiered Spend Discount (Order) campaign live at the same time, for example a store-wide spend offer and a separate offer for a VIP segment. A cart gets only one Tiered Spend discount, so Discount Prime has to pick one when several campaigns qualify. This article explains how that choice is made so you can plan your tiers.

When Several Campaigns Qualify, the Smallest Applies

If a cart meets the conditions of two or more live Tiered Spend campaigns, the customer gets the smallest qualifying discount, not the biggest. This protects your margin when campaigns overlap by accident.

Example

Campaign

Tier the cart reaches

Discount

Store-wide spend offer

Spend $100+

$10 off

Holiday spend offer

Spend $100+

$15 off

A $120 cart qualifies for both, so the customer gets $10 off. If you want the $15 offer to apply, deactivate or schedule the store-wide campaign so they don't run together, or limit one of them to a customer segment that doesn't overlap.

A Tier's Maximum Is a Ceiling

Each tier can have a maximum cart value. The maximum is an eligibility ceiling: once the cart goes above it, that tier stops applying. It is not a cap on the discount amount.

For example, a tier set to $35 to $90 applies to a $60 cart, but not to a $95 cart. Make sure your next tier starts where the previous one ends, or carts in the gap will get nothing.

Tier setup

Result

$35–$90: 5% off, $90+: 10% off

Every cart from $35 up gets a discount

$35–$90: 5% off, $120+: 10% off

Carts between $90 and $120 get no order discount

Order Discounts and Product Discounts

Each Tiered Spend campaign has a combination setting for product discounts:

  • Combine on: the order discount applies on top of product discounts in the cart.

  • Combine off: the order discount and product discounts don't combine; the customer gets whichever is larger. The comparison uses the cart total without free gift and Buy X Get Y reward lines.

Setup Checklist for Multiple Spend Campaigns

  1. List every live and scheduled Tiered Spend campaign with its thresholds and audience.

  2. Avoid giving the same customers two campaigns with the same thresholds; the smaller one will always win.

  3. Use tiers without gaps, or make sure any gap is intentional.

  4. Test with a cart just below and just above each threshold and maximum.

💡 Free shipping campaigns work differently: when several shipping campaigns qualify, the best shipping discount applies, and free shipping beats any fixed amount.

Mini FAQ

Can I run two Tiered Spend campaigns at once?

Yes. Both can be live. When a cart qualifies for both, the smaller discount applies.

Why did the customer get the smaller discount?

Two live order campaigns qualified, and Discount Prime always applies the smallest qualifying one. Remove the overlap to apply the bigger offer.

My $95 cart got no discount but my tier goes up to $90. Why?

A tier's maximum is a ceiling. Above $90 that tier no longer applies, so add a next tier starting at $90.

Does a free gift count toward the order total for this comparison?

No. Free gift and Buy X Get Y reward lines are left out when order and product discounts are compared.
